Remote/Long-Distance Design Service Consultation

1. Describe the space as it relates to the house. How far from the house is it? Can the space be seen from any of the rooms in the house on the first or second floors?

2. What purpose would you like it to serve? Will it be used for dining, reading, growing vegetables, harvesting cut flowers for the house, or is it simply decorative, giving us the opportunity to create a pleasing vignette?

3. Can we "touch a match" to the space, or do some of the existing plantings have to stay?

4. What are the dimensions of the space?

5. What colors do you prefer for this area? If we can carry the colors from the interiors out, please list them.

6. Would you like us to consider a specific budget for materials in our plan?

7. We would like to personalize your space. What are your hobbies and interests? Perhaps some of them can inspire us in our design.

8. How many hours of sun does it get per day, and of what quality? (Ex: 6 hours of direct, full sun.)

9. What is the moisture quality in the area - is it generally dry or wet? If it is dry, how often are you willing to water it?

10. Give us a few words to describe the feeling you hope to achieve when viewing the completed garden. Should it be elegant? Vibrant? Warm and welcoming? Cottage - like? Formal?

11. Are there any plants or structural items you do NOT want us to include? (For example, one of our clients - believe it or not - detests lavender!)

12. Please list your contact information (name, address, phone number, and email address.) If we have additional questions, how do you prefer to be contacted and on what days/times?
